We Not Me Athletics

"Having Mahir play in Select Hoops and be apart of We Not Me Athletics has been a rewarding experience not only for our son but for us as a family too.

For Mahir the program really taught him that to be good or even great at takes time and patience. It required him to put in a little bit everyday so that he was just a little bit better than the last time. The program has helped build his confidence and his leadership skills. Each coaches insight taught him a different perspective about the game. Which I believe has helped him develop not only in his ability to lead on the court but also in the classroom.

The boys were not only treated as athletes but also student athletes helped shape them for the reality of being able to play college ball. He emphasized that excelling in academics were just as important as excelling on the court. Because of this it helped put us at ease because we knew that the coaches were not only bettering our son in his athletic dream but also helping us help him pursue his academic dream.

I think when selecting a basketball team for your child to play in look for a team that is going to help support your child in their athletic and academic pursuits. It’s wonderful that the child can run all the plays and make all the shots. But what does any of it mean if they aren’t even eligible to play? What does any of it even mean if they are not even confident in themselves?

Select Hoops / We Not Me Athletics treats their players with love and respect on the court and off. These coaches help lay the foundation with great skill development and understanding of the game from the beginning so that bad habits stay off the floor. They learn that the game isn’t about the individual but about the team. Which is what real life is about. That you the individual plays their role to help the whole community."
